RALEIGH DIETITIAN NUTRITIONISTS
Personalized nutrition counseling that improves your health AND your relationship with food.
We offer virtual and in-person appointments, and we’re in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Medcost, Meritain, and the NC State Employee Health Plan.
What is nutrition counseling?
Nutrition counseling is the process of working with a registered dietitian nutritionist to reach any food-related health goals that are important to you. At Ruby Oak Nutrition, we take a non-diet approach to nutrition counseling that focuses on well-being, not weight loss. We never hand out cookie-cutter plans or tell you exactly how to eat (because if those things worked, you wouldn’t be here!). Instead, we take the time to get to know you before offering nutrition guidance that’s relevant and realistic. We use the principles of intuitive eating and the SMART goal framework to help you gradually improve your health and your relationship with food.
What types of nutrition counseling does Ruby Oak Nutrition offer?
Adult Eating Disorder Treatment
Adolescent Eating Disorder Treatment

What is it like to work with a dietitian at Ruby Oak Nutrition?
We’re here to support you, NOT to be the food police. We don’t give out diet plans or tell you what you should and shouldn’t eat, and we don’t measure health by the number on the scale.
We listen. We get to know you. When you tell us about your struggles and challenges, we believe you. Then, we work with you to set goals and support you in reaching them. Our work together might feel challenging at times, but we’re with you every step of the way.
Some clients work with in-person at our office in Downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. Many other clients (in over a dozen states!) work with us via telehealth.
Does my insurance cover nutrition counseling?
We’re proudly in-network with most Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Medcost, and Meritain Health plans, including the North Carolina State Employee Health Plan. Many plans cover nutrition counseling sessions at no cost to you.
If you have health insurance through another carrier, we can provide super bills to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Many of our clients get reimbursed a significant percentage of what they pay for nutrition counseling.
What do our dietitians specialize in?
All of our dietitians take a non-diet approach and incorporate intuitive eating into nutrition counseling. Every dietitian at Ruby Oak has different specialties, including adult eating disorder treatment, adolescent eating disorder treatment, pediatric nutrition, sports nutrition, gut health, diabetes and chronic disease management, and women’s health nutrition.
